Small Act = BIG IMPACT

Would you like to make a social impact in your community, but aren’t sure where to start? Did you know you don’t always need a big wallet and you don’t always need to spend hours of your free time in order to help! What if all you had to do was give up a toonie a week to directly support local community groups working to make lives better and to empower individuals, children and families in your area?

Treasure Chest Toonie Draw is a 50/50 weekly lottery that gives players an opportunity to win cash while supporting community organizations! By participating in the Treasure Chest Toonie Draw and playing a toonie a week you will be supporting Family Outreach Resource Centre and Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council programs as well as helping local community groups! In return, that same toonie can be turned into big money if your number is selected in the weekly draw. Giving up a toonie a week may be a small act BUT is can have a BIG IMPACT!

The Family Outreach Resource Centre has been offering services for children, parents and Families in Corner Brook since 1994. In 2010 the centre expanded to service communities on the South Shore of the Bay of Islands.

Services include a drop in-playroom and outreach playgroup for children as well as age specific programs focused on various developmental and social areas. The centre provides Car Seat Clinics, a Toy/Book Lending Library and a variety of Parent and Family programs aimed at enhancing positive parenting skills. Family Outreach also offers the Healthy Baby Club which is a prenatal program, promoting healthy lifestyles during pregnancy and in the postpartum period.

All programs are FREE of charge with childcare and transportation provided.

Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council plays an important role in the acquisition, maintenance and development of literacy and essential skills.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy council was established in Corner Brook in 1986. The organization supports literacy councils and committees across the province including the Western Family Literacy Committee which is located in Corner Brook.

Through its volunteer councils and committees NLLLC provides programs aimed to assist individuals (adults, youth and families) with their reading, writing, basic numeracy and computer skills, as a step towards achieving their life goals. Programs include the one-on-one volunteer tutoring program for adults, Summer Reading for Fun programs for school-aged children as well as other literacy and essential skill programs. All programs are provided FREE.

In addition to the above organizations, the Treasure Chest Toonie Draw will support local community groups. Local sports teams, charitable organizations and other not-for-profit community groups are invited to participate and have an opportunity to share the organizations share of the proceeds! If your group would like to participate, we invite you to apply by completing the following registration form.
