Treasure Chest Toonie Draw to Support Local Nonprofits!

We are pleased to announce a new and exciting weekly 50/50 charitable lottery! The lottery has been established as a joint venture of the Family Outreach Resource Centre and the Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council.

The Treasure Chest Toonie Draw will help raise much needed funds to support Family Outreach Resource Centre programs and services for families, as well as local literacy programs and services including Summer Reading for Fun and the Volunteer Adult Literacy tutoring program! In addition, local sports teams, charitable organizations and other not-for-profit community groups will be given an opportunity to get in on the winnings! The funds raised will reach far and touch many lives in the region! The very first draw will be September 18th!

On August the 16th we began a dual Facebook campaign to build the suspense and create a buzz, ending with a joint Facebook Contest and today we are thrilled to reveal our new Treasure Chest Toonie Draw logo and launch this widely successful fundraising lottery. Playing on our local history and folklore, Brad Crann of Rouge Freelance designed a wonderful logo that references the legendary pirate treasure hidden on Shellbird Island being vigilantly guarded by the Man in the Mountain! Residents throughout Corner Brook, Bay of Island’s and surrounding areas are invited to play a toonie weekly for a chance to win the treasure!

Now is the time to press your luck, win BIG money, and contribute to local community services. The very first draw will be September 18th and we have three weeks to get as many people registered as possible to build our first jackpot! To play, individuals 19 and over can now visit one of the participating local businesses, locate the treasure chest collection box, complete a registration card and receive their very own Toonie Treasure Chest number. Once registered, your number or numbers are yours to keep and play. Every week registered players will write their number on the provided sticker, attach it to a toonie and place it in the treasure chest collection box. It’s that simple!
